About Our Support Group

This is a support group for people with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelopathy/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and Fibromyalgia. Our group meets on the

3rd Thursday of each month, 7:00-9:00 PM at
Sharon Presbyterian Church, 5201 Sharon Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210

Use the first driveway entrance coming from Fairview  Road. Then look for the separate brick building beyond the parking lot (Charles Little Activity Building). We meet in Classroom 6, just off the gymnasium. Look for signs on the building door and the room door.

Our meetings are facilitated by Kebbie Cannon , Bethanie Massey, Leslie Vann, or Nancy Henson.


The structure of our meetings is as follows:
7:00 - 7:15 PM Announcements
7:15 - 8:15 PM Speaker/Facilitated Discussions
8:15 - 9:00 PM Sharing Time (Q&A, refreshments, etc.)

Meeting size varies from 10 to 30 on average.

Meeting Schedule

The proposed schedule for 2014 is:

  • April 17 -- Dr. Charles Lapp will review important  new findings from the IACFS International Research Meeting,  held March 20-23 in San Francisco

  • May 15 -- Maggie Devries, a disability attorney will bring everyone up-to-date with what's been changing in the world of Social Security Disability

  • June 19 -- Doug Blessington - Coping technique

  • July 17 -- Luncheon, time and location TBA

  • August 21 -- Luncheon, time and location TBA

  • September 18-- Fawn Pattison, Sr. Advocate for a Toxic Free

  • October 16-- Dr. Lloyd Bridges, a local practitioner

  • November 20-- Gloria Smith,  Coordinator of the SolveCFS BioBank & Patient Registry

  • December 18 -- Christmas Party!

New Board Member

We are pleased to announce the addition of Bethanie Massey to the Board of Directors.  Bethanie is a former teacher and holds a BS degree in Psychology. Bethanie has already involved herself in the club by attending board meetings, recommending speakers, and helping with promotions (including a the new telephone resource for our group). She will also facilitate many of the upcoming meetings.

Practice Primer for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Available in User-Friendly Print Version

To All Who are interested in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS):

The IACFS is happy to announce that our CFS/ME Primer for Clinical Practitioners is available in a user-friendly, professionally prepared print version. This  42-page spiral bound booklet is easy-to-use, particularly for quick referencing of specific sections that may be of interest. The goal of the Primer is to provide the information necessary for clinicians to understand, diagnose, and manage the symptoms of ME/CFS. The new print version will be mailed directly to your door.
