Charlotte CFS/ME/FM Support Group Newsletter
for December 11, 2011
Hi everyone,
Its that time of year again when we do our best to enjoy another Christmas or other holiday traditions by pacing ourselves so as not to get overtired by committing to more than we can handle.
I generally don't start my cards until just before Christmas and hope I get them done by New Years. I've cut back but with so many family and friends back north I just can't cut back all that much. I'm lucky to have a daughter-in-law and son who do Christmas Eve supper and share gifts leaving us with the entire Christmas day to sleep if we so choose.
I wish to everyone in our group and on our mail listing a very Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday however you celebrate and a happy and healthy New Year.
God Bless You All,
Nancy

I do hope as many as can will come to our Christmas Party next Thursday, December 15th at 7PM. As always we'll have Dr. Lapp as Santa Chuck at the piano for our sing-a-long. This year Maggie, from our administrative board, is going to prepare a ham for us and some healthy veggies.
Anyone who wishes to bring any other dish to share or desserts or beverages or whatever, please feel free to do so. If you are having a tough time right now but you can manage to make it to a meeting, please come - you don't have to bring a thing but yourself, a friend, a spouse, or significant other. Just come!
As always, our meetings are at 7:00 PM at Sharon Presbyterian Church ( 7-9 PM), located 0.8 miles south of SouthPark Mall on Sharon Road. Use the entrance closest to the mall if you can. There is a second entrance but you'll have to weave around in order to find the parking lot to the left of the sanctuary building (left as you would be facing the building).
We meet in the Charles Little Activity Building (or CLAB), which is the brick building at the rear of the parking lot. As you come into the building you should see a sign for the meeting, then go into the first door on your right - the Parlor - where our group meets.
Remember no perfumes so as not to make those with MCS ill and no smoking anywhere on the church grounds.
And if you need further directions, you can call me at 704-563-0657.

Apology Regarding Mobile Phone Numbers Going Public
I just wanted to say that I should have checked out that information with Snopes or elsewhere to verify the truth. It is not totally true. Its an email that comes to the surface and circulates as new news from time to time. There's no har, in doing what it says, however.

Dr. Teitelbaum's 10 Favorite Supplements for
CFS and Fibromyalgia
By
Jacob Teitelbaum, MD*
From Dr. T:
"Over the years, people have often asked me for a list of my top 10 supplements
- the ones to take if you don't have the funds, time or inclination to take more
than a few and you'd like to be able choose those that give you the most "bang
for the buck." Below I've listed my favorite 10 supplements, along with brief
descriptions of each."
Disclaimer: I'm not encouraging the use of supplements nor that Dr. Teitelbaum's opinions are "gospel." I merely am reporting some information that some of you may find interesting and/or helpful. For that information, go to:

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the CDC: A Long, Tangled Tale, November 23, 2011; by David Tuller
"Note: This account draws from interviews, a close reading of a fraction of the 4608 studies that pop up (as of today; yesterday it was 4606) on a PubMed search for “chronic fatigue syndrome,” and a review of many pages of government documents–in particular the minutes and testimony from meetings of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Advisory Committee to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, one of many such panels established to provide guidance to federal health officials. Not much here will be a surprise to anyone who has read the better ME/CFS blogs, or Hillary Johnson’s authoritative and prodigiously researched 1996 account, Osler’s Web: Inside the Labyrinth of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Epidemic. Some readers might know that I have written a number of articles on chronic fatigue syndrome as a freelance contributor to The New York Times, so I want to be clear: The Times has nothing to do with this piece. I want to thank Professor Racaniello for letting me invade his space to post this very long story."
